NEHST STUDIOS GIVES MILITARY A CHANCE
Partners With Screenwriting Veteran in New Company

New York, NY – October 3, 2008…NEHST Studios Founder and CEO Larry Meistrich has partnered with screenwriter Cary Abbott, USMC-Ret. to form GI Pictures. In a groundbreaking move, GI Pictures has developed the first program specifically for members of the military to access film and media opportunities.

The company was founded with the mission to not only search for feature films, television and web series for production, but to also physically produce projects staffed completely with military and veteran crews, actors and creative executives.

GI Pictures came about when screenwriter Cary Abbott, USMC-Ret. pitched NEHST Studios one of his story ideas. A Desert Storm veteran, he spent years trying to get his screenplays read, but could never seem to get in Hollywood’s door. NEHST Studios gave him access he couldn’t get before and optioned his script.

Meistrich and Abbott are currently looking for scripts to build a production around. GI Pictures will select at least a project a year to fund and produce, which will be fully staffed by military members and their dependents. The projects need not be about the military – all genres will be accepted. Above all, the objective of GI Pictures is to support the troops and their families – and to create jobs and promote economic growth.

Meistrich is an award-winning producer with numerous films to his credit, including the Academy Award-winning Sling Blade, You Can Count On Me and Croupier. He is especially proud to work with Abbott on this new endeavor.

Production assistance:

Indy Film Wisconsin will offer assistance to productions by linking productions with locations, marketing, and press as needed. Indy Film Wisconsin will be more than happy to use our vast network within State and local Governments around the State to aid productions, as well as our links to the business community for the best deals possible.

This tool will have searchable database of actors and crew.
Basic listing will be free. Casting calls will be listed and Actors may have head shots and reels. Crew can have demo reels and post resumes, trailers may be posted. Indy Film Wisconsin will keep costs for film makers as low as possible. Production companies and film related business will be encouraged to take out advertising or sponsorships.
We will link to those who are willing to link to Indy Film Wisconsin.
Unlike other web sites we will not check references, since we are all claiming to be professionals or on that path; we will trust those who post and that during the hiring process that all necessary checks will be made. Workshops:

Indy Film Wisconsin will restart the free film workshops in Milwaukee. More information will be forthcoming.

Project Racine:

Indy Film Wisconsin will start helping non profits and select others in Racine Wisconsin with low cost PSA (Public Service Announcements) and other WEB 2.0 media. We will start relationships with Racine Unified School District and other schools to find youth who may wish to learn WEB 2.0.
Indy Film Wisconsin is not seeking to compete with producers for paid work. Rather we see this as a way to help groups get a message out that may not have the means to do so, and provide training to youth.

About Me:

My name is Wayne Clingman I live in Racine, WI. I helped to start Film Wisconsin, in fact I called the first meeting in Madison, WI as well I traveled the State promote to Film Wisconsin.

To help bring true Indy Horror-Sci-Fi and Fantasy to the Midwest, I founded “It Came from Lake Michigan” ICFLM Film Fest. The actor William Zenobia became the right hand of the film fest, and for two years we did great things from free walk in workshops to creating the Midwest’s largest Horror Sci-fi and Fantasy Film Fest. Something is in the works to take the place of ICFLM and we will see how this all pans out.

Film historian James L. Neibaur, Racine
James L. Neibaur is a Racine film historian, author of seven books and hundreds of articles, including over 40 essays in the Encylopedia Brittanica. Mr. Neibaur has helped and supported the film festivals and film projects in the Racine area and curates a weekly classic comedy film series in downtown Racine.

A young auteur embarks on a journey via dirigible, to bring media to weary workers

Justin Bosar functions as Backlot Imaging's production supervisor and principal operator. He supervises work on both 2D and 3D graphics and animations for video, film, and interactive applications. Bosar earned an undergraduate degree at Marquette University, with a major in Broadcast and Electronic Communication and a minor in Computer Science. He enjoys science-fiction applications of visual effects, as well as entertainment software development. Bosar currently resides in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Owners/principal designers Ken Kornacki and Nellie Hoffman formed Aurum, a pioneer in motion design for film, television and commercial productions, in 2003.

Craig’s previous film, 'The Egg' was screened at our 8th festival. Craig is also a founding member of the Wildwood Film Festival held in Appleton. He also teaches Fine Art in his hometown of Marion, Wisconsin.

Andrew is a graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) film program. He resides in New York and works at Cineric Inc. restoring/preserving films. His previous film Sans Supervision was screened at our 8th festival.

Victim by R. Michael Gull and Jason Williams (Adult content)

18 minutes Milwaukee, WI

Victim is the brainchild of stand up comic/writer/actor R. Michael Gull. First written by Gull as a short story in 1993, Victim is the tale of Vincent, a man whose concept of love is, shall we say, a bit skewed. He's not a monster. As a matter of fact, he could be your neighbor, your mechanic, or your child's teacher. He could be that guy with the flat tire on the side of the road, or the one behind you at night at the ATM.

After sitting on a shelf for over a decade, Victim has been fine tuned into a movie. This dark, disturbing tale is being told with director Jason Williams at the helm and cinematography by Michael Kubaszak. Featuring still photography by renowned photographer Jim Steinfeldt, and original songs written and performed by Olivia Barash (Repo Man, Tuff Turf, Little House on the Prairie, Fame, The Doors) and Binky Tunny. Film score by Brian Jones.

R. Michael Gull is an actor. In 2007 he appeared in the Tate Bunker film 'Perceval' and in 2008 you can see him in 'Victim' 'Indefinite', 'Haunted' and more. He is currently in production on a sci/fi thriller, 'Dust' and is in pre-production on another feature film to be released in 2009. This season you can see Michael on the new TV series 'Family Practice', on the Lifetime Network, as well as the final season of the NBC series 'ER'. Also a writer, Michael writes screenplays, has a catalog of over 100 recorded songs, contributes the blog 'Messiah Simplex' to the online edition of VITAL Source magazine and writes short stories.

Jason Williams is a full time student working towards a career in feature films. His previous film 'Meniere's Disease' was screened at the Wisconsin Film Festival, Wildwood Film Festival, WILDsound Film Festival and the Southside Film Festival.
